The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the Houthis in Yemen launched an anti-ship missile into the Red Sea.

CENTCOM shared a post on the subject on its X social media account.
In the post, it was reported that the Houthis launched an anti-ship missile into the Red Sea from the region under their control in Yemen.

27 attacks in the Red Sea since November 19

It was pointed out that the incident did not cause any loss of life, damage or injury, and that this was the 27th Houthi attack on commercial shipping routes since November 19, 2023.

Following the recent actions of the Houthis in Yemen against merchant ships in response to Israel’s attacks on Gaza, many shipping companies decided to suspend their voyages in the Red Sea.

In response, the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced on December 6, 2023 that they were negotiating the establishment of an international “Maritime Task Force” against the attacks of Houthi forces in Yemen against commercial ships in the Red Sea, and on December 18, 2023, announced the creation of a multinational mission called “Operation Welfare Guardian”.
