The number of Turkish migrants crossing the English Channel to Britain in small boats has tripled.
According to official data, the number of Turkish citizens entering the UK by boat across the English Channel rose from 1127 in 2022 to 3,60 last year.
This puts Turkey in third place behind Afghanistan and Iran in the number of people entering the UK in small boats.
Despite an increase in the number of Turkish migrants crossing the English Channel, the total number of crossings decreased by 36 percent last year.
The number of migrants crossing illegally decreased from 45,774 in 2022 to 29,437 in 2023.
The Telegraph reminded that Britain and Turkey signed a new agreement in August for cooperation against people smugglers.
According to the report, the London administration is negotiating with Ankara for a repatriation deal and wants to deport Turkish migrants quickly.
