The TFF Board of Directors decided to convene extraordinarily due to the attack. Justice Minister Tunç announced that an investigation was launched.

Referee Halil Umut Meler officiated the match which started at Eryaman Stadium at 20.00.

Morutan (MKE Ankaragücü) scored in the 14th minute and Gaich (Çaykur Rizespor) scored the decisive goal in the 90+7th minute.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw.

MKE Ankaragücü Club President Faruk Koca punched referee Halil Umut Meler inside the pitch immediately after the match.

Meler, who suffered a black eye after the attack, was escorted to the dressing room by his assistants and police.

In a statement made on his X account, Minister of Justice Tunç said, “At the end of the MKE Ankaragücü-Çaykur Rizespor match, the necessary judicial investigation has been initiated against those responsible for the events in which the attack on the referee Halil Umut Meler took place.”
