Robot taxi app starts trial runs in Russia

Russian internet company Yandex announced that driverless taxis have entered service for testing purposes in a district of the capital Moscow.

“A robotaxi (robot taxi), a car ordering service controlled by artificial intelligence, has been launched in Moscow,” Yandex said in a statement, as quoted by TASS news agency. Robotaxi operates in test mode in the Yasenevo district from 07:00 in the morning until 01:00 at night every day.”

Users will be able to call a robotaxi through the Yandex Go (Яндекс.Go) taxi application.

There are currently about 40 pick-up and drop-off points in the area.
