As it is known, the navigation bar on Android phones appears black in many applications. This is quite a contrasting image, especially for Android users who prefer an open theme. Now, with the transparent navigation bar feature, this situation disappears.
Since Android 5.0 Lollipop, app developers have been able to change the color of Android’s navigation bar, which is solid black by default. Making the navigation bar transparent is not as simple as it sounds. Developers need to take different measures to avoid visual conflicts between important UI elements and the navigation bar.
Google has previously made transparency optional, ensuring that the navigation bar does not get in the way of important UI elements in apps. However, some companies did not follow this path and continued to use the navigation bar in black in their apps.
With Android 14 Beta 1, Google has introduced a setting that makes the navigation bar background transparent by default. Thus, the navigation bar can be used transparently on the entire screen, including apps.
