Against the backdrop of the strained situation of the statutory health insurance, the health policy spokesman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, Sorge, has advocated fewer visits to the doctor.
He does not want to deny anyone a visit to the doctor, the CDU politician told MDR radio. Compared to other European countries, however, Germans go to the doctor very often. Everyone should consider whether it is necessary every time. The cost consciousness of patients should then be rewarded, for example through bonuses. – The statutory health insurance system is likely to be short 17 billion euros this year. The German government therefore launched a financial package in the fall. The “Act on the Financial Stabilization of Statutory Health Insurance” is intended to make up the shortfall. According to Federal Health Minister Lauterbach (SPD), the coverage gap has reached historic proportions. He justified the development with the Corona pandemic, demographic change and medical progress.
