Afghanistan’s Embassy in Tehran has been handed over to the Taliban administration.
Abdul Kahhar Belhi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban interim government, made a statement on his personal Twitter account.
Belhi stated that new chargé d’affaires and diplomats have been appointed to the Afghan Embassy in Tehran and that the embassy activities will continue with these appointments.

Diplomats at the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tehran took a last souvenir photo and vacated the embassy.
The Afghan Embassies in Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Russia and China were handed over to the Taliban last year.
The remaining Afghan embassies around the world are staffed by diplomats appointed by the previous Afghan government.
No country in the world, including the countries whose embassies were handed over to the Taliban, has officially recognized the Taliban government so far.
The Taliban came to power in Afghanistan on August 15, 2021.
