Words that escalated tensions: ‘Russia is now at war with NATO’

‘Russia is now at war with NATO and the West,’ a senior EU official said, claiming that tank aid from Western allies had sparked Putin’s anger.

Following the German government’s decision to send 14 Leopard 2 tanks for the ongoing war in Ukraine, the US announced that it would send 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine within a few months.

In addition to the decisions taken by France and the UK, good news for Ukraine came from Poland. In an interview with the Canadian press, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that they will give Ukraine 60 more tanks in addition to the German Leopard 2 tanks.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki drew attention to Poland’s role in helping the Western allies reach an agreement on the supply of modern tanks to Ukraine and said, “Poland’s role helped to convince other countries.” Stating that Poland was the first country to give more than 250 tanks to Ukraine about 6 months ago, Mateusz Morawiecki said that they will give 14 Leopard 2 tanks as well as 60 more modernized tanks. Stating that 30 of the 60 tanks will be Polish PT-91 Twardy main battle tanks, Morawiecki did not give information about the model of the remaining 30 tanks.

CAN MAKE A SERIOUS DIFFERENCE

Ukrainian officials have been saying since the beginning of the war that they need at least 300 modern tanks.

According to statements from Western allies, at least 100, if not 300, tanks are expected to be sent to Ukraine. According to military analysts, these tanks could make a significant difference in the war.

“PUTIN’S ANGER REIGNITED”

The Kremlin described the decision of the US and Germany to send tanks to Ukraine as ‘direct involvement in the conflict’. While Russian President Putin has so far made no comment, a senior European Union (EU) official called the tank decision a ‘game changer’ and suggested that the Russian leader’s anger had been reignited.

“RUSSIA IS NOW AT WAR WITH NATO AND THE WEST”

At a press conference in Tokyo, Stefano Sannino, Secretary General of the European External Action Service, claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin has abandoned the concept of ‘special operations’ and is now engaged in a war against NATO and the West.

“RUSSIA WILL LAUNCH MAJOR ATTACKS AND RETALIATE AGAINST THE WEST”

“I think this is just an evolution of the way Russia is taking the war to a different stage,” Sannino said, suggesting that Russia would launch massive strikes and retaliate against the West, without distinguishing between civilian and military targets.

BIG REACTION

Sannino’s statements had a great repercussion in the West. Newspapers shared the statement with their readers with the headline ‘Russia is now at war with NATO’.

Speaking on ‘International Holocaust Remembrance Day’, Russian President PUTIN gave a veiled threat: ‘Forgetting historical lessons leads to the repetition of terrible tragedies. The crimes against civilians in Ukraine, organized by neo-Nazis, clearly prove this. Our soldiers are fighting this evil with great courage.

SANCTIONS EXTENDED

On the other hand, the European Union extended economic sanctions against Russia until July 31
