Consumer prices in the UK rose above expectations in October, climbing to a 41-year high of 11.1 percent.

Consumer price inflation announced today by the UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS) was realized at 10.1 percent in September.

Economists had predicted that inflation would rise to 10.7 percent.

ONS stated that food and non-alcoholic beverage prices rose at the fastest pace since 1977.
