Russia today accused Britain of involvement in the September explosions that caused leaks on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea, which are being built to transport Russian gas to Europe.
The Russian Defense Ministry said on its Telegram account that the personnel of a unit of the British naval forces planned a terrorist act in the Baltic Sea to sabotage the work of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines.
On September 26, explosions in the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines caused a pressure drop and natural gas leaks.
Following the explosion, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the sudden massive leaks in the Nord Stream gas pipelines from Russia to Europe were the result of an ‘act of international terrorism’.
Putin accused the US and its allies of blowing up the Nord Stream pipelines, saying, “It was not enough to impose sanctions on the Anglo-Saxons. They have moved on to sabotage. They are also behind the North Stream sabotage.”
