Eight residents of Japan’s Yamaguchi prefecture were attacked and injured by monkeys.
Last weekend, 8 residents of Yamaguchi prefecture in western Japan were attacked by monkeys that came to the city center from the surrounding forest areas.
On Sunday morning, a monkey broke a window into an apartment and bit 2 women living there on the leg.
Later in the day, a monkey entered an apartment on the fourth floor of an apartment building in the same area and injured another woman in the hand.
At the same time, another woman walking in the area was attacked by a monkey from behind, while 2 different women and 2 men residing in the area were also bitten by monkeys.
With the latest developments, the number of monkey attacks reported from the region has risen to 42 since the beginning of July.
After the attacks, the authorities called on the residents to be vigilant and took action to catch the monkeys in the city center.
Local authorities called on the public not to leave their windows open and announced that preventive traps were placed in the area.
