Olena Zelenska, the first lady of Ukraine, has requested the US Congress for further assistance in waging the battle against Russia.
She said the following in a moving address in Washington: “I’m requesting guns. weapons that are employed to defend one’s home rather than to wage war on another’s territory.”
It follows Russian claims that their combat objectives have now moved beyond eastern Ukraine. Sergei Lavrov, the foreign minister, hinted that it was in retaliation to the West providing longer-range weaponry.
