Streaming giant Netflix is taking a step towards an ad-supported subscription plan. The company has agreed with Microsoft for its new plan.

Earlier this year, Netflix faced a disappointing earnings report. The company then announced that it was working on a cheaper, ad-supported subscription plan. This week, Netflix announced that it is working with Microsoft on a new plan. The company stated that Microsoft will offer a cheaper option. Here are the details!

Netflix plans to offer more options with new partnership

Netflix said in May that it would offer a lower-priced version to attract more subscribers. The announcement came after the company reported its first subscriber loss in more than a decade. Today, the streaming service announced that it has chosen Microsoft as its ‘technology and sales partner’.

Greg Peters, Netflix’s COO and Chief Product Officer, said of Microsoft’s involvement. “Microsoft has a proven ability to support all of our advertising needs as we work together to build a new ad-supported offering. Importantly, Microsoft offered strong privacy protections for our members, as well as the flexibility to innovate over time on both the technology and sales side. ”

Peters also said that Netflix is still working on a few things before the plan is ready for the event. He said that with this plan, the goal is to offer more choice to subscribers and a better television brand experience for advertisers.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said the company was excited to be named as Netflix’s technology and sales partner in the new proposal. He also described it as ‘a great day for Netflix and Microsoft’.

This statement does not include any information about Netflix’s new plan. However, it is claimed that it will exist alongside the existing basic, standard and premium plans. It is also among the claims that the ad-supported plan will be cheaper than the basic plan.
