Peugeot, which has increased its popularity with the cars it has recently launched, shared the first details of its new vehicle at the beginning of this month: Peugeot 408. The first detail that caught the eye in the design of the new 408 was the brand’s original cat stance referring to the brand belonging. Along with the sharp design lines, the front design proudly hosts the new lion-headed Peugeot logo.

The reverse cut of the rear bumper gives the eye-catching profile a powerful look. The new 408 is equipped with 20-inch wheels and 720 mm diameter tires. Details such as the lion’s tooth design light signature at the front and three-claw LED taillights at the rear integrate the 408 into the Peugeot family.

What does the new Peugeot 408 offer with its features?

The PEUGEOT 408 is driven by two rechargeable Hybrid (PHEV) engines, 180 and 225 HP, and a 1.2-liter PureTech 130 HP gasoline engine. All three engine options are mated to an 8-speed EAT8 automatic transmission.

There will be an all-electric version in the future. Efficiency was one of the most important issues for the designers of the new 408. The package of aerodynamics, lightweight construction and low-emission engines means very low consumption for both the hybrid and the 130 HP gasoline version.

With a length of 4690 mm, a wheelbase of 2787 mm and a legroom of 188 mm, the vehicle has a trunk volume of 536 liters. When the rear seats are folded, this volume can increase up to 1,611 liters. With a height of 1480 mm, the vehicle maintains its design integrity while increasing its aerodynamic efficiency.

The new 408 features the new generation PEUGEOT i-Cockpit, which provides both the driver and passengers with advantages in terms of driving pleasure and ease of use, and also supports driving pleasure with its compact steering wheel.

The vehicle’s driving assistance systems are powered by 6 cameras and 9 radars.

These systems include Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, the ‘Night Vision’ Night Vision System that detects animals, pedestrians or cyclists ahead before they appear in the high beam and warns the driver, the Long Range Blind Spot Warning System (75 meters) and the Reversing Traffic Warning System that warns of potential danger when reversing.

The Matrix LED technology used in the headlights provides high lighting performance and enables slim headlight designs. This headlight design gives the 408 a decisive and powerful look. The light signature extends downwards with two LED strips in a lion’s tooth design integrated into the bumper.

The new brand logo on the front grille hides the air radars for the driving assistance systems. In addition, the new 408 features the e-call emergency call system with information on the number of passengers and location, including the vehicle’s direction on the road.

The new PEUGEOT 408 will be launched in early 2023. It will be built in Mulhouse, France, for the European market and shortly afterwards at the Chengdu plant in China for the Chinese market.
