According to the information provided by the Tulsa Police, 5 people, including the attacker, were killed and many others were injured in the shooting attack on the Natalie Building at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
According to a Facebook post by the Tulsa Police Department, authorities responded to a call about a gunman in the Natalie building, a doctor’s office building on the campus of St. Francis Hospital.
Captain Richard Meulenberg, speaking on behalf of the Tulsa Police Department, told ABC News: “Officers immediately rushed to the second floor where the attack took place, when they got there they saw several people shot, a couple died at the time.”
THE ATTACKER IS DEAD
The police’s Facebook post also said the attacker had died. Richard Meulenberg said the assailant was found dead at the scene with his rifle and pistol. There was no explanation as to whether the attacker was shot by police.
According to Tulsa Vice President Eric Dalgleish, the shooter died of a gunshot wound inflicted on his own. Police are working to verify the identity of the attacker, believed to be between 35 and 40 years old.
“The White House is closely monitoring the situation and has reached out to state and local officials to offer support,” the White House said in a statement after the attack.
