Ceremonies large and small held across the country for the 96-year-old monarch will conclude with a ceremony on June 5.

According to a survey by research firm YouGov, the UK’s National Health System (NHS) and the country’s rural areas are far more popular among those surveyed than the Royal family. 62 per cent of respondents from different age groups said the NHS is the most important asset the country has, while 61 per cent said natural beauty was the best. In the study, only these two traits received appreciation of over 50 percent.

On the other hand, 37 percent of respondents said British history and shared national pride were the country’s best feature. This rate was 51 percent in 2012.

Despite all the lavish ceremonies the royal family has held this year, only 34 per cent of respondents think the monarchy and the royal family are the best Britain has ever had.

The perception of the royal family varies dramatically between generations. 51 per cent of those aged 65 and over think the Crown is one of Britain’s most important features, compared to 9 per cent aged 18 to 24.

In 2012, the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne, the figure was 40 percent among young people in the same age group.

However, 22 percent of respondents think Britain’s island location is the best feature.

Among the least popular options, according to the survey, are the country’s political system, the UK’s special relationship with the United States, solidarity networks, climate, and being part of Europe.

YouGov’s study, which took place on 18-19 May, involved 1692 people across Britain.
