Another flash decision from Russia! The age limit is being removed

Russia, which allegedly experienced a shortage of military personnel due to the Ukrainian war, moved to abolish the law on the age of joining the army. The amendment will allow Russians between the ages of 40 and 45 to join the army. The new move by the State Duma has caused concerns in the West that “Russia is preparing for bigger conflicts.”

Another flash decision from Russia! The age limit is being removed

Russia, which did not find what it hoped for in the war launched on February 24 in Ukraine and suffered serious military losses, has been taking flash decisions in recent days one after another. The Moscow administration, which has unearthed its weapons that were not brought to the front for the Donbas war, is now making preparations for the abolition of the law on the age of joining the army.

CHANGE IN AGE FOR MILITARY SERVICE

In Russia, Russians between the ages of 18 and 40 and foreigners between the ages of 18 and 30 can apply to the army for contract military service. The ruling United Russia party has pushed the button for the current age limit to be abolished.

In the statement made by the Russian State Duma, it was stated that professional experts were needed for the use of high-precision weapons and it was emphasized that these people were in the 40-45 age range.

The amendment will allow the military to use the skills of older professionals and prevent Russia’s personnel shortages in the Ukraine war.

Lawmakers say the proposed amendment would also make it easier to hire civilian medics, engineers and operations specialists.

PREPARING FOR BIGGER CONFLICTS?

Moscow’s latest move is interpreted as “preparation for bigger conflicts,” with military analysts saying Russia is facing serious military and equipment losses and trying to close its personnel shortage as the war in Ukraine turns into an endless conflict.

“RUSSIAN UNIONS ARE RUNNING OUT”

The State Duma’s amendment came just as reports emerged that hundreds of soldiers did not want to fight in what Russia called a “special military operation.”

Rob Lee, a military analyst, said: “Russia does not have enough ground units for a sustainable rotation. Troops are running out, they won’t be able to sustain this for long.”

OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN THE ARMY WITH LUCRATIVE CONTRACTS

The Guardian wrote in an article published today that Russia is quietly stepping up its efforts to recruit contract troops. The BBC claimed that Russia’s defence ministry was offering opportunities to people with no experience of war to join the army on lucrative contracts, while letters were allegedly sent to some large government-run companies asking them to register their personnel in the army.

NEW WEAPONS INTRODUCED

On the other hand, Russian President Vladimir Putin, who wants to change the course of the Ukrainian war, has activated powerful weapons that have not been used until now.

In the past days, it was announced that the BMPT tank support vehicle known as the ‘Terminator’ was sent to Ukraine, while the ‘Peresvet laser system’ was successfully tested and burned a drone 5 km away.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced yesterday that 12 new troops will be formed in his country’s Western military zone by the end of the year.
