Spacecraft like Elon Musk’s space company’s famous Falcon 9 rocket emit extremely strong exhaust fumes during each launch. The increase in these tests, which use rocket fuel called RP-1, results in the release of more carbon gases and nitrogen oxides into the nature every day.

The research, which appeared in the journal Physics of Fluids, looked at how to study the types of exhaust released by private rocket firms. According to the research team, the problem of atmospheric pollution caused by rocket launches has reached a “vital dimension”.
As a result of the research, the RP-1 rocket fuel used in rockets such as the Falcon 9 and the harmful exhaust fumes from the rocket are above the threshold set by the World Health Organization. This shows that it falls into the category of “harmful to human health”, that is, every launch harms people.
This paper in the journal Physics of Fluids led to criticism of private space companies. Although there is no explanation from SpaceX yet, a Blue Origin spokesperson shared an important information about the New Shepard rocket. The spokesperson said New Shepard was a completely innovative rocket.
“The New Shepard rocket is powered by high-efficiency and clean liquid oxygen and hydrogen. It uses only water vapor as a by-product and does not lead to carbon emissions.”
SpaceX, which wants to travel to Mars with the Starship SN20 rocket in the coming years, has to perform multiple test flights. Therefore, if private flights will cause problems to the Earth and the climate, this should not be ignored.
