The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) announced that the epicenter of the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck in the Pacific Ocean was about 1,062 kilometers southwest of the port of Bluff on the southern coast of New Zealand’s South Island.
A tsunami warning was issued after the earthquake occurred 10 kilometers deep in the ground.
Authorities did not report any loss of life or property due to the earthquake or tsunami.
