Fire rescue teams were dispatched to the scene.

Ukrainian Interior Minister Adviser Anton Gerashchenko told reporters there that a Russian missile hit homes where civilians lived.

The missile was launched from Crimea, which Russia illegally annexed, Gerashchenko said, adding that six people were wounded in the attack.

Guterres’ message to Ukraine that ‘The Security Council is frustrated but the UN is with you’

“I promise you that we will increase our efforts by coordinating every step with the Ukrainian government,” United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said during a visit to Ukraine, noting that the UN Security Council had failed to prevent war and was disappointing.

Guterres told a news conference with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy in Kiev that during his visit he personally witnessed the senseless loss of life, great destruction and human rights violations caused by the war launched by Russia.

Guterres, who is supporting the International Criminal Court’s “war crimes” investigation in Ukraine, said:

“I am here to identify the needs on the ground and to expand operations. The Security Council has not done its best to prevent this war, to end the war, and it has failed, it is a great disappointment and frustration, but more than 1400 UN employees work for the Ukrainian people every day side by side with brave Ukrainian organizations on the ground,” he said.

“I promise you that we will increase our efforts by coordinating every step with the Ukrainian government,” Antonio Guterres said.

Calling for an end to the war, the establishment of peace in line with the United Nations Charter and international law, Guterres said they would continue to work to ensure a ceasefire and humanitarian corridors.
