Former Amazon warehouse manager admits stealing $273,000 worth of hardware
A new theft at e-commerce companies such as Amazon has been added. Douglas Wright, 27, who recently served as operations manager at the company’s Charlotte warehouse, admitted stealing computer hardware such as processors, hard drives and video cards from the company’s warehouse between June 2020 and September 2021, totaling more than $273,000.
Wright, who does the job at regular intervals, said he sold the stolen products to a computer sales company in California for profit some time after taking them home. The former warehouse manager, who also pleaded guilty to theft and fraud charges against him, faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. A court date has not yet been set.
In addition, in recent years, allegations have emerged that child labor is being employed at Foxconn Hengyang facilities, where products such as the company’s AI-powered speaker, the Amazon Echo, are manufactured. This was uneasyly denied by Amazon and Foxconn, and Tang Mingfang, who made the allegations, was arrested and sentenced to prison.
Mingfang, who has been released in recent months, recently wrote to Jeff Bezos saying his allegations were true, that he was innocent and that if he investigated, he would see the truth himself. However, bezos did not respond to this letter.
