Sony will buy computer game studio Bungie for $3.6 billion.
Sony Interactive Entertainment will acquire Bungie, creator of the “Halo” series and developing popular computer games such as “Destiny,” for $3.6 billion.
The company will join Sony’s PlayStation family, according to a statement posted on Bungie’s website.
Microsoft, which has long been behind Sony with its XBox series consoles, announced last month that it would buy Acitivison Blizzard, which develops computer games, for $68.7 billion.
There is a rapid consolidation of the computer game market, which has grown strongly during the epidemic. The size of mergers and acquisitions in the sector is estimated to reach a record $150 billion this year.
