Prince William talked about his mother Princess Diana’s love for US singer Tina Turner. The Duke of Cambridge revealed that he and his brother Prince Harry sang his most popular pieces while driving to school as a kid.

Prince William talked about his memories for Time to Walk, which will be broadcast on Apple Music’s Apple Music 1 radio channel.

“One of the songs I remember best, and one that has accompanied me all this time and still secretly enjoyed, is Tina Turner’s The Best,” said the Duke of Cambridge tearfully as they walked across the Queen’s estate, Sandringham, in Norfolk.

“Because sitting in the back seat and singing feels like a real family moment,” said Prince William.

Prince William was 15 years old when Diana, Princess of Wales, died in a car accident in 1997. The Duke of Cambridge, now 39, added:

My mother used to sing along to the song at the last voice. We would even get the security police in the car, and he would sing along occasionally. We were listening to music and singing until the door of the school where they dropped us off.

Prince William said his wife, Kate Middleton, and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, “had a musical taste in the family”. The Duke of Cambridge said:

Most mornings there is a big fight between Charlotte and George over which song to play.

In Time to Walk, listeners are encouraged to walk for their mental and physical health.

Prince William’s episode will air on December 6.
