Users on Reddit and Samsung community forums have been suffering from recent freezing and stuttering issues on Samsung Galaxy devices.
The One UI 6.1 update, first rolled out in January with the new Galaxy S24 series and packed with artificial intelligence features, started rolling out for older devices on March 28.
But unfortunately, this update comes with problems, especially for older devices, including Galaxy S23 series users.
What’s happening with the Samsung Galaxy S23 series?
The new update One UI 6.1 includes Galaxy AI features to older models such as the Galaxy S23, S23 FE, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5 and Tab S9 series. This means that the artificial intelligence features introduced at the last Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event are also available to these models.
However, with this new update, there are reports that Samsung Galaxy S23 series users’ devices freeze after the update.
A user on Samsung’s community forums writes: “After installing version 6.1 (14) on my phone, the touchscreen no longer responds to finger touch but works with the S Pen, how can I fix this?”
Among the 41 responses to this question, many commented that they had the same problem.
Another user said, “After updating to 6.1, I had the same problem: the touchscreen is completely unresponsive. This is downright annoying. I can’t believe a brand would make such a terrible update.”
Is there a solution after the One UI 6.1 update?
One Reddit user claims that he was able to fix the issue after reverting his device to the previous 6.0 update. Other users say that restarting their device solved the problem.
If you are experiencing this problem, wait a few days after installing the One UI 6.1 update and restart your device. If the problem persists, it seems inevitable that Samsung will release a patch soon.
It is not yet clear whether this problem is widespread, but complaints continue to accumulate.
