Euphoria actor Hunter Schafer says he no longer wants to play transgender roles.
The 25-year-old transgender star rose to fame playing a transgender character named Jules Vaughn on HBO’s hit teen drama. But Schafer said she felt she could go even further as an actress, saying, “I’ve worked so hard to get to where I am, I’ve gotten through these really difficult points in my transition, and now I just want to finally move on as a young woman.”
Speaking to GQ magazine, Schafer said, “Just being known as a ‘trans actor’ ultimately demeans me and what I want to do. I’ve been offered tons of trans roles and I don’t want to do it, I don’t even want to talk about it, I know I’m one of the most famous trans people in the media right now and I feel a little guilty.”
