Passengers said the incident occurred about 30 minutes after take-off.
The passenger who caused a scene reportedly said he “wanted to get off the plane” before trying to open the emergency door.
Other passengers on the plane intervened with the man who forced the emergency door, and a flight attendant taped the passenger’s legs and used flexible handcuffs as a precaution.
After the incident, the passenger on board the plane, which returned to the Albuquerque International Sunport, was detained by local law enforcement.
