Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that there was an attempted attack on the checkpoint in front of Istanbul Caglayan Courthouse Gate C at 11.46 am today.
While the attack attempt was prevented, 2 terrorists were neutralized. 1 citizen lost his life and 5 people including 3 police officers were wounded in the attack.
Yerlikaya announced that the neutralized terrorists E.Y. and P.B. were identified as members of the DHKP/C terrorist organization.

“I congratulate our heroic police officers and wish a speedy recovery to those injured. We will continue to share the developments with the public,” Yerlikaya said.
Pieces of cloth and pennants found in terrorists’ bags
After the attack, the courthouse was closed to entrances and exits, while Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Şaban Yılmaz and Deputy Chief Public Prosecutors are investigating the scene.
According to preliminary findings, pieces of cloth and pennants belonging to the terrorist organization were found in a bag next to one of the terrorists. It is estimated that the terrorists planned to open the pennants after the attack.
Broadcasting ban ordered
Ebubekir Şahin, Chairman of the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK), announced that the Istanbul 1st Criminal Judge of Peace has issued a broadcast ban on the terrorist attack in front of the Istanbul Courthouse in Caglayan .
In a statement on his social media account, Şahin said, “Istanbul 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace has issued a ‘broadcast ban’ regarding the terrorist attack in Caglayan Courthouse. Our broadcasters are required to implement the decision sensitively. It is respectfully announced to the public.”
