Despite the challenges, the Catalans secured three crucial points, marking their second consecutive victory in the league.
FIRST HALF
The initial 45 minutes saw both teams executing their game plans effectively, with Barça having more possession but struggling against Alavés’ tight man-marking scheme. The home team pressed high, denying Barça space and opportunities in the attacking half.
Amidst this, Barça broke the deadlock midway through the first half. An excellent passing sequence down the left wing created space for Ilkay Gündogan, who provided a beautiful assist to Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker displayed composure, chipping the keeper and giving Barça the lead.
Alavés responded, regaining possession and creating chances. Towards the end of the half, Luis Rioja’s cross found Jon Guridi, but his header was well-saved by Iñaki Peña.
SECOND HALF
The second half began with a flurry of action. Barça quickly doubled their lead through a counter-attack, with Pedri providing an outrageous assist and Gündogan scoring a stunning volley. However, Alavés responded immediately, as Alex Sola’s run and Samu Omorodion’s header brought them back into the game.
The match remained open, with Alavés gaining momentum. Barça, however, weathered the storm, regaining control. With half an hour to play, they extended their lead through Vitor Roque, who scored as a substitute for the second consecutive game.
However, Roque later faced a controversial red card, reducing Barça to 10 men. Alavés, rejuvenated, attacked relentlessly. Barça defended resolutely, with Xavi Hernández making defensive substitutions to secure the lead. Despite the challenges, the visitors held on for a deserved victory.
Despite officiating challenges, Barça showcased resilience against Alavés and the referees, emerging triumphant in a tough encounter. Kudos to the team for their determination and well-earned win!
