US House Speaker Mike Johnson, following a meeting with President Joe Biden regarding his supplemental funding request, expressed to reporters that the current state of affairs concerning Ukraine is deemed unacceptable by the United States.
Speaking on Wednesday, Johnson stated, “We recognize the urgency regarding funding for Ukraine, and we want to emphasize that the existing status quo is unacceptable. We expect the Commander-in-Chief of this nation, the President of the United States, to demonstrate strength on the global stage and not exhibit weakness. Continuing with the present status quo is not an option.”
Johnson emphasized the need for Congress to receive a more transparent explanation from the Biden administration regarding its strategy in Ukraine, outlining the endgame and ensuring accountability for US funds. Additionally, he highlighted that prioritizing US border security must be a paramount concern.
