Role Play, the new Prime Video movie from Kaley Cuoco, star of the hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory, has set an unpleasant record.

In the comedy, Cuoco plays an assassin trying to survive and save her family while trying to get rid of the assassins on her trail.

Amazon Prime Video briefly summarizes the plot of the movie as follows:

Emma and Dave play a role-playing game in New York to spice up their wedding anniversary. But Emma’s secret life as an international assassin, unknown to Dave, is revealed by Bob. Things take a dangerous turn and put her family in danger.

Released on January 12, the action comedy stars Cuoco alongside David Oyelowo, Bill Nighy and Connie Nielsen.

The movie scored only 19 out of 100 on review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes. While the comedy had a slightly higher audience score, it also failed to win over audiences. Role Playing has an audience score of just 51.

John Anderson of the Wall Street Journal compared the movie to “a very long joke”.

“There is very little personality on display here,” said Rohan Naahar of the Indian Express:

The movie often feels untouched by human hands.

John Serba of Decider had this to say about the movie:

It’s a stale and predictable script, with a plot so fractured that Amazon doesn’t have enough superglue in its warehouses to hold it together.

Acting was another disappointment for Cuoco, who failed to star in a single critically acclaimed film and set a record as the 38-year-old’s lowest-rated movie.
