US scientists have announced that artificial intelligence has reached a level where it can produce other artificial intelligence systems without human intervention.
Research conducted jointly by US-based artificial intelligence company Aizip and scientists from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has revealed that artificial intelligence systems with advanced language models, such as ChatGPT, can produce smaller artificial intelligence systems without human assistance.

Yan Sun, CEO of Aizip, told Fox News, “We use advanced large AI models to build smaller models. It’s like a big brother supporting the development of a little brother.” Sun pointed out that this is the first step towards “self-evolving AI”.
Yubei Chen, one of the founders of Aizip, said: “We believe that large and small artificial intelligence systems will work together to create a complete ecosystem in the future.”
Chen, who works at the University of California, pointed out that ChatGPT with its advanced language model and small artificial intelligence systems were evaluated at two different ends, and said that it was an important step for them to work together without human intervention.
Chen said these systems could be used in hearing aids, inspecting oil lines and tracking endangered species.
The scientist said that small AI systems could be embedded in coffee makers, ovens, dishwashers and televisions in the home, which could relate to larger AI models in cloud systems.
Dylan Patel of SemiAnalysis, a company that conducts research on semiconductor chips, stated that ChatGPT’s work costs 700 thousand dollars a day.
Chen said that the full integration of small and large AI models will reduce the running costs of these systems.
