Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram, is testing a monthly subscription service called Meta Verified that allows users to verify their accounts using a government ID number and receive a blue verified badge.

The Facebook and Instagram subscription package, which will be tested this week, will cost $11.99 on the web and $14.99 on iOS and Android.

Meta Verified is scheduled to be tested in Australia and New Zealand this week and then gradually rolled out to other countries.

Last month, Twitter announced the launch of its ‘Twitter Blue’ service, which includes new features in addition to the blue check badge, for $11 per month.
