The dead toll from Turkey’s earthquake has risen to 5,434 people

Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca announced that 5 thousand 434 people lost their lives and 31 thousand 777 people were injured in the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş.

Health Minister Koca said, “Until now, the number of people rescued from the rubble in Hatay is 1846 people. A total of 7,500 Mehmetçiks are continuing their work in the region, and 1500 more personnel will join as of tomorrow.”

In Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Malatya, Malatya, Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, Osmaniye, Diyarbakır, Diyarbakır and Adana, which were most affected by the earthquake, search and rescue operations are being carried out in the rubble of collapsed buildings.

There are 53,317 search and rescue and support personnel working in the earthquake zone. The number of rescue workers is increasing every hour with additional teams coming from Turkey and abroad.

A large number of public employees, non-governmental organization officials and volunteers are also supporting the relief efforts.
