The electricity company serving the German state of Baden-Württemberg announced a “tense situation” in electricity supply. As the electricity supply status indicator turned red, citizens were urged to “reduce consumption”.
In Germany, where the energy crisis in Europe is the most intense, the electricity supply situation was in trouble for the first time.
The electricity company serving the state of Baden-Württemberg announced a “tense situation” in electricity supply.
The supply situation indicator, which turned yellow at midnight on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, rose to red, i.e. alert status, at 14 o’clock.
In a message to consumers, the company urged them to “reduce your consumption” in order to stabilize the situation in the power grid.
“A state of alert could be restored”
The alarming red alert level lasted for an hour. Then the system turned green again.
Despite the tense situation, there were no power cuts, the company said in a statement.
However, it warned that a similar alarm situation may occur again when consumption will increase further.
