A man who stopped taking a shower 67 years ago because he was afraid of getting sick has died in Iran.
A man named Amu Haji (Uncle Haji), who lived in Iran’s Kermanshah province and stopped taking a shower 67 years ago because he was afraid of getting sick, has died.
According to IRNA news agency, the man died in Dejgah village in Fars province in the south of the country as a result of an illness he contracted.
Amu Haji was known to have never married and for many years had been getting his drinking water from puddles on the ground and feeding on dead animals on the roadsides. Haji had reportedly been taken by villagers to take a bath a few months ago.
According to Iranian media, a short documentary film about his life, ‘The Strange Life of Amu Haji’, was made in 2013.
