The latest statement by US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan revealed the extent of the tension.
Sullivan stated that US President Joe Biden decided to review the relations with Saudi Arabia due to its siding with Russia.
He gave the message that the Saudi administration was acting against the interests of the American people.
Sullivan also emphasized that Biden has no plans to meet with Saudi Crown Prince bin Salman at the G20 summit.
He stated that many issues were on the table, including the suspension of arms sales to Riyadh.
After the OPEC decision, the American press reacted to the US President and commented, “He got a slap from Saudi Arabia, with whom he had exchanged punches.”
It was also noteworthy that Biden made concessions to Prince Salman and returned empty-handed from Riyadh.
