Extraordinary EU energy meeting

1 min read

Faced with an energy crisis following the war between Russia and Ukraine, European Union countries are looking for a way out. The energy ministers of the countries, who want to determine a common road map, came together at an extraordinary meeting in Brussels.

Imposing a price ceiling on Russian gas will be the most important agenda item of the meeting.

The meeting will also discuss the goal of reducing consumption during peak electricity hours.

Among the items on the agenda are the introduction of a ceiling on the revenues of companies that produce electricity at low cost, mandatory contributions from oil and gas companies and providing liquidity to companies in the energy markets.

EU countries have previously decided to reduce natural gas consumption, accelerate renewable investments and increase energy supplies from non-Russian sources.
