A person in Italy has become the first known instance of a person testing positive for monkeypox, COVID-19, and HIV at the same time. This is a sobering reminder that the globe is now grappling with a variety of global health concerns.
The 36-year-old Italian guy had just returned from a five-day vacation in Spain, when he engaged in unprotected sex with men, according to a report in the Journal of Infection. He became ill with a fever, sore throat, exhaustion, headache, and swollen lymph nodes nine days after arriving home.

He got a rash on his left arm later that day. The next day he also discovered tiny, uncomfortable blisters all over his stomach, legs, face, and glutes. He then made his way to the emergency room at Catania’s San Marco University Hospital.
He tested positive for HIV-1, COVID-19, and monkeypox, according to tests. His white cell count indicated that his HIV infection was “quite recent,” according to the experts. In September 2021, the man got an HIV test, but the results were negative.
In the latter part of July 2022, the World Health Organization (WHO) deemed monkeypox a “global health emergency.” According to the CDC, there have been about 45,535 cases as of August 22 with the majority occurring in Europe and North America.
