5G technology is going into space: Companies are in a race!

2 mins read

5G technology has had a significant growth rate in recent years. Giant companies are in great competition to expand the service.

5G technology with alternatives such as high bandwidth continues to influence the smartphone world. While many smartphone manufacturers continue their production in this field, companies are in a race in the distribution part of the business.

Lynk Global, AST SpaceMobile, SpaceX and more are taking 5G technology service into space

Mobile network coverage is expanding day by day. However, this coverage is still only 10 percent of the Earth’s surface. So much so that there are many living areas where there is no coverage. Companies state that this coverage can be increased to a certain level with tall structures.

Companies such as Lynk Global, AST SpaceMobile and SpaceX are competing fiercely to create a structure that can provide 5G technology service to space. In April this year, Lynk Global sent its first direct mobile commercial satellite on a Falcon 9 rocket. The company has applied to the FCC to provide 5G technology.

AST SpaceMobile is preparing to launch an important project in early September. The company made the BlueWalker 3 test satellite ready in Cape Canaveral, Florida, to provide 5G technology service. In fact, the company introduced the first and only directly accessible space-based cellular broadband network in recent weeks.

Elon Musk, who has carried out unlimited projects in many areas of technology, is of course not lagging behind in this regard. However, SpaceX’s yogurt is a bit different. The company already provides space-based internet service with the Starlink project. However, this service is not suitable for mobile network connections. Starlink has applied to the FCC under the name of Dish’s 2GHz Spectrum for Starlink Mobile Service.
