The most recent Game of Thrones seasons, according to George R.R. Martin, are not tied to the book series

George R.R. Martin, author of the epic fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire, has spoken about the recent seasons of Game of Thrones, the series adaptation of the universe, being disconnected from the books.

In an interview with the New York Times (NYT), the famous author said that he was out of the loop as of season 5.

The HBO series that took the world by storm met the audience in 2011.

Although Martin seemed confident at the time that the series would complete the series before the series caught up with the books, Game of Thrones surpassed the books with its 5th season, which started in 2015, and events that readers had not yet encountered began to appear on the screens. The series evolved in a different direction from the books.

The creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss also wrote the ending of the series themselves. The production said goodbye to the screens in 2019 with its 8th season.

In addition, Martin, who played a major role in the production of the first 4 seasons of the series, turned his focus to the series after the 5th season to focus on the book patch.

On the other hand, many fans criticized the series as of season 5.

Commenting on the controversial seasons in an interview published yesterday, Martin said, “I was pretty much out of it in seasons 5 and 6, and certainly in 7 and 8.”

When asked why, the legendary author gave the following answer:

“I don’t know, you’d have to ask Dan and David.”

The NYT reported that a representative for Benioff and Weiss declined to comment. The duo, who have signed with Netflix, are not involved in House of the Dragon, the first Game of Thrones spinoff.

Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapchnik are writing the series, which will debut on August 21.

Martin participated in meetings for the series based on the novel Fire & Blood, published in 2018. The famous author also reviewed the script and episodes.
