HBO continues to expand the Game of Thrones universe. Finally, the channel, which made a big impact with House of the Dragon, has now set a release date for a new spin-off series called Dunk and Egg.
Dunk and Egg will be released in 2025:
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav announced that the series, which was confirmed in April 2023, will air in 2025. The series is based on George R. R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg novels and is set 90 years before Game of Thrones.
The story is based on Aegon Targaryen the Younger and Ser Duncan the Tall:
The main characters of the series are the young Aegon V Targaryen (“Egg”) and Ser Duncan the Tall (“Dunk”), the naive but brave knight who mentors him. The story follows the adventures of these two characters in Westeros and the struggle of the Targaryen dynasty to protect the Iron Throne.

HBO CCO Casey Bloys said, “The world George has created is incredibly rich. We’re carefully considering which stories are worth telling and what fans will love. Dunk and Egg is one of them, but it’s not the only one.”
Casting has not been made yet:
The cast of the series has not yet been announced, but HBO is expected to move forward and begin production in the coming months. The series will be written and produced by George R. R. Martin and Ira Parker. House of the Dragon directors Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis will also be among the producers.
House of the Dragon Season 2 Comes First:
Season 2 of House of the Dragon, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight novel and will air in Summer 2024.
Dunk and Egg is highly anticipated by Game of Thrones fans. When the series airs in 2025, new information about the mysterious past of Westeros and an exciting story will meet the audience.
