The people of Ukraine have launched a nationwide campaign to purchase the Bayraktar TB2 UCAV. Moreover, more money was raised than expected.
In a campaign launched by the Lithuanian Defense Minister last month, it was said that the necessary amount of money would be raised to buy a Bayraktar TB2 UCAV from Turkey and present it to the Ukrainian army. As a matter of fact, they managed to do this in a very short time.
Of course, Baykar learned about this later on and presented the Bayraktar TB2 to Lithuania. He said that they wanted the money collected to be given to the Ukrainian people for humanitarian aid. Now a similar situation is being done again by the Ukrainian people.
The people of Ukraine have collected the money needed to buy 3 Bayraktar TB2s!
The people of Ukraine showed great participation in the Bayraktar TB2 mobilization initiated by the famous TV presenter Serhiy Prytula. So much so that the aim of the campaign was to collect 15 million dollars to buy 3 UCAVs. But within 3 days, enough money (20 million dollars) was collected to buy 4 UCAVs.
Due to the higher-than-expected amount of money raised, Prytula said on his social media accounts that they will be able to buy the 4th TB2 with the increased amount and that the money in the account is increasing day by day.
Ukrainian pilots prefer TB2 instead of MQ-9 Reaper!
According to the news that emerged in the past few days and found its place in the US press, there was a debate between Ukrainian soldiers about the MQ-9 Reaper and Bayraktar TB2, which reached the general assembly.
It is said that MQ-9 Reapers are both twice as expensive as Turkish UCAVs and are no longer as effective against Russian defense systems as before. For this reason, although it has some advanced features, it is said that there is no point in buying it at twice the cost and sacrificing it more easily.
In the US press, the words of Ukrainian soldiers were expressed in the following words:
We are not defending the Gray Eagles (MQ-9 Reaper). It is quite dangerous to use such expensive drones in our situation because of enemy air defense systems. This is not Afghanistan.
