Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will pay a visit to Turkey next week.

On the agenda of the visit will also be the food crisis caused by the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Speaking to Reuters, a senior Turkish official said he expects progress on Lavrov’s plan to export grain from Ukraine’s Black Sea ports during his visit to Turkey next week.

Moscow and Kiev have conditions on this grain corridor, but they want to reach a solution, he said.

Although obstacles remain, such as payment mechanisms for agricultural products, the official said Moscow could take more positive steps.

The Russian defense ministry announced yesterday that it was ready to ensure the safety of ships carrying grain from Ukraine.
