California-based Lucid Group announced that it has signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia to purchase 100,000 long-haul and fast rechargeable electric vehicles over the next 10 years. Saudi Arabia initially pledged to buy 50,000 vehicles, while it said it would buy 50,000 additional vehicles over a 10-year period.
“The provision of up to 100,000 Lucid electric vehicles in Saudi Arabia is a new and important step in our journey to accelerate the global trend towards sustainable mobility solutions,” Lucid Group CEO Peter Rawlinson said in a statement. Rawlinson said that by offering Luxury and advanced electric vehicles to Saudi Arabia, they are happy to support the Kingdom’s efforts to achieve its sustainability goals and zero carbon targets.

Under the agreement, Saudi Arabia has pledged to purchase vehicles assembled at the Lucid International Manufacturing Facility in Saudi Arabia, including Lucid Air and other future models. The order amount is expected to range from 1,000 to 2,000 vehicles per year and increase to between 4,000 and 7,000 vehicles a year from 2025. Delivery of ordered vehicles will begin no later than the second quarter of 2023.
