Brothers Lana and Lilly Wachowski, who wrote and directed the Matrix series, auctioned off items they used in films to support transgender youth.
Pieces from films contributed by the directors, both transgender women, will be featured in the auction. More than 180 materials used in films such as Matrix Revolutions, V for Vendetta, Sense8 and Speed Racer will search for new owners.

All proceeds from the auction will go to the Protect and Defend Trans Youth Fund, which supports transgender youth and the organizations that serve them.
Lily Wachowski announced saturday on Twitter that the auction was called Introduction to the Matrix: Enter the Matrix: The Wachowski Collection. “We were doing spring cleaning and decided to pass on some of the treasures we had collected over the years to others,” he said.
The Wachowski brothers’ move comes at a time when the anti-trans movement across the UNITED States is gaining strength.
In recent weeks, the Alabama state legislature has voted to prevent transgender youth from receiving gender-affirming medical care. Texas Governor Greg Abbot, meanwhile, has called for a review, saying the medical care practices in question are child abuse.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the bill, which opponents call “Gay Don’t Say Gay.” The law prohibits public school teachers from teaching about sexual orientation or gender identity until the third grade.
After many years of fan controversy, Lily Wachowski confirmed in an interview with Netflix in 2020 that the Matrix series is surrounded by trans themes.
The auction, which will also featur character figures and DVD sets, will begin on Thursday (May 12th).
