Ilker Aycı, who resigned last month as Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines (THY), took over The Indian Airlines (Air India), the country’s flag carrier, which was founded in 1932 as Tata Airlines.

Tata Sons, owner of India’s industrial giant Tata Group, announced the appointed ilker Aycı, former Chairman of Turkish Airlines, as CEO and General Manager of Indian Airlines. “The board of directors approved ilker Aycı’s appointment as CEO and General Manager of Air India after the necessary negotiations. This appointment is subject to the necessary regulatory approvals.”

Tata Sons President Natarajan Chandrasekaran made the following statement after attending an Indian Airlines board meeting on Aycı’s candidacy:
