A new one has been added to the lifesaving events of wearable technology products. AirPods saved the life of a woman with head trauma.

With the development of technology, new devices began to appear, diversifying according to the usage needs. Examples include wearable technologies such as smartwatches and wireless headphones. These products, which are becoming more and more capable by the day, are now seen as an important tool that can save human lives rather than their current functions.

Especially recently, we have seen Apple Watch watches save the lives of their users who were involved in the accident by introducing emergency SOS with their detection functions. Finally, airpods, another product of the company, saved the life of a woman who fell from a height.

Susan Putman, a floral designer from New Jersey, recently suffered a head injury after falling from a height while working alone in her studio. Putman, 60, who was unable to seek help because he was alone and seriously injured, was saved by AirPods, which were constantly stuck in his ear due to his habit of listening to music.

Susan Putman was working on a ladder to grow the 2.5-meter wreath order she recently received. Meanwhile, he was listening to music with AirPods stuck in his ear. However, the flower designer, who suddenly lost his balance and fell down the stairs, was traumatised by hitting his head on metal poles on the ground.

After a while, Putman regained consciousness but was in no condition to stand up, realizing that his AirPods headphones were still in his ear, and simply commanded Siri to “Hey Siri, call 911.” Siri immediately contacted police after the command and remained on the line until paramedics arrived.

Susan Putman described her moments of danger as follows:

All I remember is having two cops with me, one pressing a towel over my head and the other telling the ambulance to be faster because I was bleeding heavily. To be honest, if they’d come 15 minutes later, I probably wouldn’t be here. If it wasn’t for my AirPods, I’d be dead.
