The tension is higher than ever: consecutive statements from the USA and Russia!
After the US threatened Russia with sanctions on Ukraine, the Kremlin’s response came today. Russia described the US statement as ‘crossing the line’. It is expected that Russia will announce its decision on Ukraine after the summit to be held in Vienna today, after Geneva and Brussels.
The United States had recently announced that if Russia invaded Ukraine, the Biden administration would impose serious sanctions on Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian banks. The US also announced that in case of an invasion, new security aid of 500 million dollars would be given to Kiev.
Kremlin warns: crossing the line
In a last-minute statement from the Kremlin, it was stated that the US sanctions that personally target Russian President Vladimir Putin would “cross the line” and warned that the relations between the countries could completely close.
“Sanctioning a head of state is comparable to crossing the border and breaking ties,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
