Keeping secrets is mentally drainingA new study has been published on the secrets people keep in the US and their effects.

In a study by Columbia University, it was stated that 97 percent of people kept at least one secret at every moment of their lives.

In the report of the study, it was stated that a person has an average of 13 secrets and they keep at least one secret in every moment of their lives.

In the study, it was underlined that the secrets kept were generally related to preferences, passion-level desires and relationships, deception and disloyalty to the trust of others.
While the research also examined the impact of keeping secrets on people’s moods and quality of life, it was emphasized that the biggest challenge was the effort to hide the learned secret.

It was underlined that the negative effect of keeping secrets on the mood was described as “people think about the secret they learned when they are alone”, and that this negatively affects their quality of life.

In the research, it was stated that sharing the secret with someone else relieves the mood and does not cause any distress because it prevents thinking in moments of solitude, and it was stated that this situation improves the quality of life.
