Eddie Eagan, the only athlete to win a gold medal in different fields at the Olympic Games
In the history of the Olympic Games, athletes can participate in both the summer and winter Olympics. American Eddie Eagan is the only athlete in the world to win a double Olympic gold medal.
He won a gold medal in boxing at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, and 12 years later he won a gold medal in sled racing at the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, People’s Daily Online reported. Eagan had only trained for three weeks before joining the Olympics.
Eagan’s talent was not limited to sports, he studied law at Harvard and Yale universities. He then went to England to study at Oxford University. He also became a colonel during the Second World War. The newspaper reports that currently the competition in the Olympic Games is increasing compared to the past, but it is very difficult to reproduce the Eagan miracle.
